Review: The Vampire Hunter's Daughter, by Jennifer Malone Wright

About the Author:

Jennifer Malone Wright resides in the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho with her husband and five children. Between the craziness of taking care of her children, whose ages range from fifteen all the way down to one year, and being a homemaker, Jennifer has little time left for herself. The time she does have left, usually leading far into the night, is spent working on freelance work or her beloved fiction.

When she grew up, Jennifer always had her nose in a book. She has been writing stories and poems since grade school. This love of the written word and her strong interest in the paranormal is what has led to her first novel “The Birth of Jaiden.”

In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Jennifer is also a very proud military wife. Moving around the country for the last eleven years has made her a bit of a nomad and she finds it difficult to be in one place for too long.

About the Book:

The Vampire Hunter's Daughter is a serial novel that introduces the reader to Chloe Kallistrate, a 14 year old girl who witnesses her mother's death and quickly discovers why her mother kept her hidden from her family all those years.

In Part I, Chloe discovers that her mother was a vampire hunter and not just any vampire hunter, but a direct descendent from the most powerful bloodlines of vampire hunters. Forced to leave all she's ever known behind and begin a new life amongst a secret community of vampire hunters, Chloe must learn to trust and learn the skills necessary to achieve the vengeance she most desires against the vampire responsible for her mother's death.

Part II in the series begins with Chloe's training and the struggles to adjust to her new life and role as a vampire hunter when all she really wants is to be a normal teenage girl. When faced with danger and the threat of a vampire, Chloe begins to realize that her life is far from normal. She has a purpose---a drive. And that is to keep focus on what she was meant to do: kill the vampire who killed her mother.

In Part III & IV we see Chloe discovering her new powers and why she is different from the other vampire hunters in the community. We also get a glimpse into Chloe's heritage and on how she is a descendent of an immortal demi-god. With the development of her gifts and the realization of her heritage, Chloe begins to understand why the vampires will stop at nothing to get to her. And after the vampire hunting community is attacked and lives are lost, Chloe begins to question her being there and placing everyone she's begun to love, life in jeopardy. Will she stay or will she seek revenge once and for all?

Well you have to read the books in order to find out.

I really enjoyed reading this serial novel, Jennifer M. Wright will have you hooked from the very beginning. The main characters are not your typical whiny, soft teenagers, but real bad ass vampire hunters that mean business. It's a fresh take on the vampire YA genre. There is a lot of action, suspense and even a bit of romance to these series. At the end of each part, you will be left with wanting to know what will happen next, but at the same time, not wanting the series to end.
